Make Music Day, which was launched in France in 1982, is now celebrated in thousands of cities and towns in the U.S.A. and around the world on June 21 each year. It is open to amateur and professional musicians of all ages, encouraging everyone to share their music with friends, neighbors and strangers. This amazing event inspired our weeklong celebration.

This Oceans Day, Dan, Dan the Music Man has put together a beach bag full of songs and stories about that special place where the sand meets the sea. Come and clap, jump, dive, swim and sing along with us at this lively and engaging Oceans Day mini-concert where we’ll sing about your favorite beach activities and about the fish, whales and other animals who call the oceans home.

Presented by Happenstance Theater, PREPOSTEROUS! is a sophisticated, family-friendly, pocket-sized clown circus packed with live music and ridiculous routines that are sure to wow and amuse. Witness charming vintage clowns play circus animals, sing as a human calliope, invent several absurd "entrées” and execute a very satisfying slow-motion number involving a pie! In this mesmerizing, one of a kind performance, we’ll journey into the lives of aquatic creatures native to the Long Island Sound as specially crafted puppets—made from reclaimed and upcycled materials sourced from local beaches— drift gracefully through an aquarium theater. Featuring live puppetry projected onto our larger than life Multimedia Gallery screen and set to ethereal music created by NYC photographer and composer J.T. McCann, get ready for a unique display that will have the whole family captivated.

Stepping Stones Museum for Children is an award-winning, nonprofit children’s museum that works every day to provide essential educational offerings for children ages 10 and under. The museum generates half of its annual revenue from individual donations, grants, sponsorships and special events.
